Woodlawn Garden of Memories
Woodlawn Cemetery was first opened in 1931 when Interstate 10 was a narrow road farmers used to transport produce and the original owners, J. W. Metzler, J. W. Metzler, Jr., Ben Dancer, and Mrs. Phyklura Skalinder developed a landscaped park with winding roads.
In 1940, the name was changed to Woodlawn Garden of Memories and the use of flat grave markers and sculpture features enhanced the grounds. About this time, Mexican born artist Dionicio Rodriguez created imaginative sculptures of reinforced concrete in natural forms and textures of nature.
Today, Woodlawn Garden of Memories is a perpetual care cemetery offering options from traditional burial sites with monuments, three mausoleum structures, and numerous options for interment of cremated remains, including our cremation gardens.
