The arrangements for a funeral will include three areas of choices,:
- Funeral Home Services, such as picking up and handling the deceased remains
- Funeral Home Merchandise, such as casket, outer burial enclosure, memorial books, etc.
- Cash Advance expenses which are items which the funeral home obtains for the family from a third party and charges the family the cost of that service or merchandise.
Woodlawn Funeral Home offers a full range of options for you to select the events which will best help you to honor and remember the person who has passed away. These Options include:
- Traditional Funeral Services
- Traditional Funeral Services are those which follow the traditions you probably witnessed growing up. The deceased is picked up by the funeral home, prepared by embalming, dressed and cosmetized and placed in a casket. Family members and guests who attend the visitation or funeral usually will choose to view the person. Many families feel that creating this memorial picture reinforces the traditions they have held for years. The visitation period may include some form of wake or rosary services the evening before the funeral, a funeral service which may be held in our chapel, your church, an alternative location and is then followed by gathering for a committal or interment service at the graveside.
- Memorial Services
- Memorial Services are held when for whatever reason the family decides that viewing of the casketed remains is not appropriate for their family. The deceased is usually either buried without any ceremony, or the deceased may be cremated. The memorial service can be a visitation period, a traditional service in our chapel, your church, or other location, or even at the site where cremated remains will be interred or scattered.
- Immediate Disposition
- An immediate disposition is when the funeral home simply picks up the deceased, shelters the remains until necessary clearances and authorizations are obtained, and the disposition, whether cremation or burial takes place with only funeral home personnel in attendance.
